THE BENEFITS OF BROCCOLI

Broccoli, a brother to cabbage, kale and cauliflower, is a famous type of green vegetable in the cruciferous family. It is known to be packed with nutrients in amounts hugely exceeding any other type of vegetable.

Broccoli is a true powerhouse it contains good sources of fibre, protein, iron, potassium, calcium, selenium and magnesium as well as a lot of Vitamin A, B, C, E and K.

Further Broccoli is also known to contain Phyto-nutrients, of which sulforaphane is one of the most important. Sulforaphane enhances and supports detoxification in our bodies, which is an extremely important process. Scientists are becoming increasingly interested in these Phyto-nutrients as they seem to be more important than first thought.

Several studies found that consuming steamed or raw broccoli regularly, can help lower the risk of cardiovascular disease by reducing the amount of cholesterol in our bodies.

The above mentioned benefits, was among  the reasons we decided to add this nutritious green into the HEAL recipe.
